We are proud to offer an internship experience that is uniquely designed to meet the needs of each intern. Our goal is to provide each intern the opportunity to gain experience and training in many aspects of fitness management including fitness center design, development, and management as well as a full array of health promotion/wellness services. The opportunities exist to focus the intern’s experience around a particular area of interest in order to optimize the experience.
- Operations and Administration – learning the basic tasks necessary to run the daily operations of a fitness facility.
- Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription – learning and perfecting all aspects of the “Fitness Assessment Protocol”.
- Group Exercise Instruction – gaining exposure to the components involved in teaching a group exercise class.
- Strength Training/Personal Training – gaining exposure to the components involved in personal training and exercise prescription.
- Wellness Programming – learning how to determine demand and need for any wellness programming that is supplemental to the member’s membership.
- Must be currently pursuing a degree in fitness or a similar health-related field.
- Must be of Junior or Senior status.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 120 hours over the course of the internship, comprised of a minimum of 20 hours/week over a minimum of six weeks.
- Spring Semester (January-May), November 15th
- Summer Semester (May-August), March 15th
- Fall Semester (August-December), July 15th
